Privacy Policy

This policy explains how adan. (“Adana”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you use our escrow, delivery confirmation, and related services.

Last updated: 24 July 2026

Overview

Adana provides delivery-assured escrow payments for merchants, buyers, riders, and marketplace partners. We process personal data to create accounts, hold and release funds, verify identities, confirm delivery, resolve disputes, and operate our platform securely.

By using Adana, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who we are

Adana is operated as a payments and logistics-trust product serving users in Nigeria and other markets where we make the service available. For privacy questions, contact us at hello@adana.africa.

Data we collect

Depending on how you use Adana, we may collect:

  • Account details — name, email address, phone number, password (stored hashed), and role (seller, buyer, rider, admin, or partner).
  • Identity & payout data — verification information such as BVN (where required), virtual account details, and related KYC outcomes needed to settle funds.
  • Transaction data — invoice amounts, payment references, escrow status, delivery OTP usage, refund/dispute records, and partner external references.
  • Location data — GPS coordinates you choose to share (for example rider presence, buyer dropoff tracking, delivery confirmation, or dispute evidence).
  • Media & documents — profile photos and dispute attachments uploaded through our storage providers.
  • Device & usage data — technical logs such as IP address, browser type, and activity needed for security, fraud prevention, and service reliability.

How we use data

We use personal data to:

  • Create and manage accounts, sessions, and notifications
  • Process escrow payments, payouts, refunds, and delivery confirmation
  • Match nearby riders, show delivery proximity, and support handoffs
  • Verify users and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Handle disputes and communicate with buyers, sellers, and partners
  • Improve product performance, reliability, and customer support
  • Meet legal, regulatory, and accounting obligations

We do not sell your personal data. Location and identity data are used only for the purposes described above and related security or compliance needs.

Sharing & processors

We share data with service providers who help us run Adana, under appropriate contractual safeguards, including:

  • Payment processors (for example Flutterwave) for collections, virtual accounts, and settlements
  • Cloud infrastructure & media storage (for example Cloudinary) for hosting and file uploads
  • Marketplace partners when you use partner checkout — limited transaction and status data needed for their order flow, including webhooks they configure
  • Other Adana users as needed for a transaction (for example a seller sees buyer email and assigned rider contact details; a rider may see delivery-related location for an engaged job)
  • Authorities or advisors when required by law, dispute resolution, or to protect rights and safety

Retention & security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including transaction history required for audits, disputes, and legal retention. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it where practicable.

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data (access controls, encrypted transport, hashed passwords, and operational monitoring). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please protect your login credentials and report suspected unauthorized access promptly.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, or object to certain processing. Some data must be retained for compliance (for example completed payment records).

To exercise these rights, email hello@adana.africa with the subject line “Privacy request”. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Cookies & local storage

Adana uses essential cookies and browser storage (such as authentication tokens) to keep you signed in and operate the product. We do not use these primarily for third-party advertising. You can clear site data in your browser, which may sign you out.
