How Sellers Can Avoid Fake Payment Alerts

Sellers: stop releasing goods on fake bank alerts and screenshots. Use escrow status as proof of payment in Nigeria.

Published 25 July 2026

Fake payment alerts are one of the most common seller scams in Nigeria. A buyer sends a edited screenshot or a spoofed SMS, collects the goods, and disappears.

Seller protection starts with one rule: never release inventory based on a screenshot alone.

Trust platform status, not screenshots

With Adana, wait until the invoice shows payment held in escrow. That status is harder to fake than an image in a chat. If the invoice is still awaiting payment, do not ship or hand over goods.

This is especially important for phones, laptops, appliances, and same-day Lagos deliveries where pressure is high.

Get paid after verified handoff

After delivery confirmation, Adana releases funds to you. You keep proof that the order was funded before dispatch — and you reduce arguments about whether money “entered” your account.
